We also have a full time Special Education Teacher on site.  Our new school building was built in 2004.

At St. Michael's NS we foster an atmosphere of friendliness and kindness where every child can feel safe, happy and cared for. We aim to cater for all our children's needs and encourage each child to reach their own individual and unique potential.

We have five Green Flags proudly blowing at the front of our school and we have been successful in renewing our Active School Flag three times. We enter teams into various quizzes and compete in writing, debating and art competitions.  We have won many competitions at all levels.  We partake in swimming lessons from first to sixth class in Monaghan Leisure Centre and our school has been represented and has won in various swimming competitions and Galas.  We have achieved successes in county athletics, county GAA and county soccer competitions, winning county titles in the girls' soccer competitions and Girls Cross Country county titles.  We've also won boys and girls GAA Cumann na mBunscol finals. We are the current winners of the Small School Girls Athletic team  AND the county winners of the Roinn 4 Cumann na mBunscol GAA girls teams AND the current holders of the Mini 7s award.

We enjoy lessons and coaching from a range of outside experts in dance, soccer, volleyball, tennis, rugby and GAA. Indeed, we have welcomed many GAA stars like Maeve Monaghan, Dessie Ward, Kevin Loughran and our very own past pupil and All Star nominee Niall Kearns in recent years.

We have a musical every Christmas to show off our budding actors, actresses and musicians. We try our best to offer the most fun and interactive learning experiences for our children. We foster strong links with parents and with all groups in the local and wider communities.
